Virginia Artists In Action (VAIA) is a currently seeking new members whose works consist of music, 2-D, 3-D, dance, poetry/writing, clothing, and mixed-media. A portion of all proceeds from the sale of member artwork through the association’s website and events goes to support various Virginia non-profit’s selected by the participating members.
Reflecting Women’s Wellness 2010, Women’s Health Virginia’s annual juried art show will be at the James Center in Richmond from April 3-24 and then at the Richmond Marriott West, from April 25 to May 23, 2010. Organizers are currently seeking submissions from artists for inclusion in the exhibit.
Submissions can be made by with a photo or digital print or electronically. The details about electronic submissions is on the Women’s Health Virginia web site, www.womenshealthvirginia.org. Deadline for submissions is Monday, March 1 at 5 p.m.
We are excited to be presenting this show as part of April’s celebration of Women & Girls’ Wellness Month in Virginia, to demonstrate how creative work is part of wellness for the artists and observers. The show is also participating in Minds Wide Open: Virginia Celebrates Women in the Arts.

Painter Lee Nixon and Photographer Candace Schoner will have their work on display at Art Upstairs at 112 W. Main Street in Charlottesville, Virginia throughout the month of March. The gallery will host an Art Reception featuring the Virginia Artists In Action members on Friday, March 5th along with local artists Robert Lazo and Ben Feigert. The reception will be held from 5:00pm – 9:00pm and is open to the public. Art Upstairs is open Tuesday through Saturday from 12:00PM – 5:00PM and Sundays 1:00PM – 4:00PM.
